The
Pierhouse Knoydart
NEWS
Hopefully its not too early to post Spring news… After a busy summer we have been enjoying a quiet(ish) winter – though with the pier still under construction, and teams of extra foresters arriving to help with the rhododendrons, it has felt quite busy over the winter months.
The phone started ringing in earnest for Spring bookings, just after Christmas, so if you are wanting to visit, please enquire now about availability. The Easter and May holidays are filling up and we are already full for some weekends later in the summer and autumn, so don’t delay. Although we do book up a long way ahead, you are welcome to contact us last minute too just in case anything has come up.
The restaurant is also taking advance bookings and if you’re going to be in Knoydart, we do recommend that you book your table (either before you come, or on arrival at Inverie). We’re only small, so places are limited, and as everything is made freshly by us (no bought-in freezer-to-fryer meals here!) it helps us enormously to know how many are coming through our door.
Looking forward to getting the garden underway for the spring – the slugs did very well last year, but we managed to outwit them eventually and our herbs, salads and soft fruits did well. Supplemented by Morag’s fresh produce from Knoydart Market Garden (she has the advantage of polytunnels) we put on a good show of fresh fruit and veg last year and hope to do the same again in 2006.
Looking forward to welcoming old and new summer staff back for this year – some of them can’t stay away – Congratulations to Rob who worked for us in 1999 and 2000 – he’s getting hitched this summer… Still have a vacancy for early in the season – do you fancy coming up and getting stuck in… ideal opportunity for a GAP year student – no experience needed (we can show you how to wash dishes and make beds…!) but enthusiasm, friendliness and a genuine love of the outdoors along with a willingness to get your sleeves rolled up…
Knoydart Sea School is up and running - we’ve hosted a couple of radio courses in the Pier House over the winter. .. but it’s the sea-based courses that are really good fun. Why not book a Powerboat Course for whilst you are in Knoydart and have a day learning to handle boats, seeing a bit of the loch… Mark is also available for trips in his fast “rib” … he took out a group of children staying at the Pier House on a trip last summer and they said it was “mint”!!
